Train No.01065 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Ernakulam Junction weekly special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 13.20 hrs. on Tuesdays and arrive Ernakulam Junction at 19.00 hrs. on Wednesdays from 29.04.2014 to 10.06.2014. Train No.01066 Ernakulam Junction – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus weekly special will leave Ernakulam Junction at 23.30 hrs. on Wednesdays and arrive Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 03.10 hrs. on Fridays from 30.04.2014 to 11.06.2014.The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 2-tier, 1 AC 3-tier, 10 Sleeper Class, 3 General second class and 2 luggage-cum-brakevan coaches.The trains will stop at Thane, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon, Karwar, Murdeshwar, Bhatkal, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, Mangalore Jn., Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Payyanur, Kannur, Thalassery, Vadakara, Kozhikode, Tirur, Kuttippuram, Shoranur, Thrissur and Aluva. Train No.01067 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Tirunelveli weekly special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 14.20 hrs. on Fridays and arrive Tirunelveli at 02.25 hrs. on Sundays from 02.05.2014 to 06.06.2014. A nice change and a pleasant surprise!

I was apprehensive of ordering food from little known website and getting food from a small town like Bhusaval. However, I was pleasantly surprised with food delivered in terms of Qty, Quality and packaging. The food was good in terms of Paratha, Panner Curry and Vegetable all of good standard. Only sour point was Dal Fry which was bland and appeared under cooked badly. However, a nice change and thanks for making travel food good.

We were travelling with Jain pilgrimage tour of 300 people. For our long journey from Chennai to Jaipur, we wanted good quality food. Without onion and garlic, with time constraints  -not in night.

We got the reference of merafoodchoice through a friend who has tried this service. We were a bit worried for this, we had send them email and called them that we want food for train 12967.

They send us option and offer us breakfast, lunch and dinner at Ballarshah station, Nagpur railway station and Bhopal respectively. We had given them a target cost and they were able to meet.

The food delivered at Ballarshah junction and Nagpur junction was very good, the packing was good. Though food in Bhopal was not as good as others but it was good.

Based on this we ordered for return journey also.

2,096 Bio-toilets so far in Rail Coaches

Indian Railways has installed over 2,000 bio-toilets in coaches to bring eco-friendly travel  to rail passengers.

“We have completed installing a total of 2,096 bio-toilets in coaches at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) at Kapurthala till March this year,” a senior RCF official said.

The bio-toilet has the advantage of preventing corrosion of railway tracks, as it prevents discharge of human waste from the coaches. According to the official, the Railways had to spend `350 crore every year to offset the damage from corrosion. Indirectly, it will also have a negative impact on manual scavenging.

Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the bio-toilets have been fitted in sleeper and AC coaches. “Gradually, all coaches will be fitted with bio-toilets as per the plan,” the official said.

Meanwhile, touching a new high, the Rail Coach Factory  at Kapurthala has created a record production of over 1,700 coaches for premier and other mail/express trains in 2013-14.

The Rail Coach Factory  has produced 1,701 coaches including 389 Linke Hofman Busch (LHB) coaches in the fiscal 2013-14, which is highest ever production in the unit so far, said the official.

The coaches will be used mostly in Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Double Decker and mail/express trains.

Around 32,000 users have registered for the e-wallet scheme launched by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation

ALLAHABAD: Around 32,000 users have registered for the e-wallet scheme launched by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in November last year.

The e-wallet scheme allows users with an IRCTC account to deposit money with IRCTC itself for future booking of e-tickets from the website www.irctc.co.in. The facility saves time and nullifies chances of money being deducted from one's account without the ticket being booked. In case of ticket cancellation, the due refund is credited to the e-wallet of the passenger the next day.

Joint general manager, public relations, Railway Board Pradeep Kundu said nearly 76000 tickets have been booked by users using the e-wallet. The average daily booking through the facility has gone up to nearly 750 tickets from the initial 250 tickets when the scheme was launched in mid-November 2013.

In the return direction, the 04027 Alipur Duar-Anand Vihar Terminal Weekly Express Special train will depart from Alipur Duaron 06.04.2014 to 29.06.2014 (13 Trips) at 10.05 a.m. to reach Anand Vihar Terminalat 04.15 p.m the next day.

              Comprising of o­ne AC III Tier,  Six Sleeper class, six General Class  besides two disabled friendly 2^nd class cumLuggage Van coaches, the . 04028/04027 Anand Vihar Terminal-Alipur Duar-Anand Vihar Terminal Weekly Express  Special  train will stop at Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, sultanpur, Varanasi, Mughalsarai, Buxar, Ara, Danapur, Patna, Mokama, Barauni, Begusarai, Khagaria, Katihar, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, siliguri, New Mal & Binnaguri stations enroute in both directions.

The 04051 Anand Vihar Terminal – Udhampur (five days a week) Express special will depart from Anand Vihar from 01.04.2014 to 30.06.2014 (65 trips ) o­n every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 04.15 p.m. to reach  Udhampur at 07.30 a.m. the next day.  In the return direction the 04052 Udhampur- Anand Vihar Terminal (five days a week) special will depart from Udhampur at 03.50 p.m. from 02.04.2014 to 01.07.2014 (65 trips ) o­n every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday to reach Anand Vihar Trml. at 5.35  a.m. the next day.

          Consisting of nine sleeper class, four general class and two 2^nd class cum luggage van coaches, the 04051/04052 Anand Vihar Terminal – Udhampur- Anand Vihar Terminal (five days a week) special will stop at Ghaziabad, Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Jagadhari, Ambala Cantt., Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt., Chakki Bank & Jammu Tawi stations enroute in both the directions.
