In order to clear extra rush of passengers during summer season, South Central Railway will temporarily augment the following Express Trains with additional coaches:-

Shatabdi Exp on Lucknow Junction from April 29

LUCKNOW: Railways has postponed operation of 12003/12004 Lucknow-New Delhi Shatabdi express from Lucknow Junction instead of the main Charbagh station to April 29 instead of from April 1. Shatabdi express will ply from cabway, platform no. 6 of the junction station.

In order to reduce congestion at Charbagh station, railway board had decided to shift operation of three pair of trains from main station to LJn. Trains 11109/11110 Jhansi-Lucknow intercity express and 22453/22454 Lucknow-Meerut Cantt Rajya Rani express have already started running from Lucknow Junction from March 1. Contention over Shatabdi continued between two railways as it is one of the major revenue earning trains for northern railway, which will now have to part with its station earnings as well.

The train, however, will operate as per schedule printed in the July 2013 time table of the Indian Railways.

Augmenting efforts for cleaning tracks at major stations, Northern Railway today launched a track cleaning machine at the New Delhi  station. 

Equipped with a powerful vacuum cleaner blower, the machine mounted on a wagon is capable of cleaning the areas alongside of the track. 

The machine was pressed into service at the station here, said a senior Northern Railway official. 

Rail tracks are normally littered with all kinds of waste such as polythene, paper bags, plastic bottles, torn clothes and leftover food. 

Developed by the Northern Railway, the machine has a capacity to store 6 MT of waste and it can be tilted at the earmarked place to empty the waste

764 trespassers caught in Pune in 2 Months for crossing the rail line

Pune: On one hand, the Pune railway division claims to have conducted drives time and again against people trespassing on railway tracks, around 764 people were caught crossing the railway tracks till March 3, 2014.
The Pune railway division has undertaken drives at various railway stations last week where they penalized trespassers. A total of Rs57,235 was collected from them. The drive was conducted at Pune, Shivajinagar and Pimpri railway stations.
In 2013, as many as 6,027 people were caught trespassing.
Public relation officer of Pune railway division, Yogendra Kumar Singh, said, "Despite repeated attempts to educate people, they do not take it seriously. Therefore we had to carry out a special drive against illegal trespassers."
Singh added, "All the railway stations which comes under Pune division have foot overbridge. Despite that people have a habit to cross the railway tracks to save time, ignoring the fact that they may lose their life doing so."
Singh added, "As per the Indian Railway Act Section 147, if any person enters any part of the railway property without lawful authority, he can be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or can fined up to Rs1,000 or both."
Over 350 people have lost their lives between Pune and Lonavala railway station while crossing the railway tracks illegally.
Assistant commandant of the Railway Protection Force (Pune Division) Vinod Kumar, said, "Most of the time people who are in a hurry tend to cross the railway tracks illegally and they do not even bother to check whether a train is heading towards them or not."
